S6 E7 How Inflammation Affects Aging With David Watumull & Allison Rosenwinkel

When it comes to the topic of aging it seems everyone is buzzing about inflammation these days. But what is inflammation really, and why does it wreak so much havoc? Chronic inflammation (even mild) is generally considered to be a biomarker of accelerated biological aging and increases our susceptibility to diseases. So how do we know we have inflammation (because it’s hard to tell) and what can we do to stop it in our own bodies? Since we are living longer, we want to live those extra years with vitality.

David M. Watumull is the co-founder and CEO of AX3 which targets inflammaging (a core hallmark of aging) with bio-pure astaxanthin which is a safe and powerful, naturally occurring anti-inflammatory. Allison Rosenwinkel is the co-founder of HiFi Brands which is a branding and marketing agency. She not only works with AX3 but is also passionate about their product since it has really helped her with her own chronic inflammation.

Join Lauren, David and Allison as they discuss: what exactly inflammation is and how it impacts how we age; what astaxanthin is and how it works to combat chronic inflammation and aging from the inside out; why more people aren’t taking it; the specific benefits of astaxanthin for women in midlife who are experiencing changes in their skin; joints and overall health; why women particularly should be taking astaxanthin and how it aligns with embracing natural aging;; and what changes can one expect when taking astaxanthin.

S6 E4 How Being In Love Can Help Our Aging Skin With Dr. Nicole Hayre

If you want to recapture that fresh-faced youthful, radiant glow, love just may be the drug you’re looking for. Yes, popular skincare ingredients like Bakuchiol, squalane, green tea, vitamin C, etc. are helping aging skin, but board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Nicole Hayre is taking a different approach. She uncovered a new patent-pending ingredient that she believes is going to be a game-changer in the skincare industry!

She discovered that high levels of oxytocin (aka the “love hormone”) in the body, has positive effects on the skin at the cellular level, resulting in glowing, youthful healthy skin. She found that the higher the oxytocin level was in someone’s skin, the better they looked for their age. This discovery was so revolutionary that she was asked to speak at the United Nations on her findings. Now she has a range of skincare products called Cutocin which are formulated with a patent-pending ingredient that mimics the effects on of oxytocin in the skin resulting in a healthier, younger-looking appearance.

Join Lauren and Dr. Hayre as they discuss: Dr. Hayre’s background in skincare; what led her to research the effect oxytocin has on the skin; her findings through this research; how to increase our oxytocin levels even if we are not “in love”; her discovery of the patent-pending Sheperd’s Purse and how she integrated it into her skincare line Cutocin; what it was like creating a skincare line; what’s next for her brand; the skincare concerns that she is seeing most from her patients; and what services they are asking for most.

S5 E4 How Women Manage & Mismanage Their Own Healthcare with Susan Salenger

Women are typically the medical gatekeepers for their families yet, are commonly not as diligent with their OWN health. Guest author Susan Salenger wrote the book “Sidelined, How Women Manage & Mismanage Their Health” to change our internal conversation and make ourselves a priority. You can’t be there for your family if you are sick or not feeling well. Over 80% of patients lie to their doctors and women lie more than men. That can lead to inaccurate and possibly detrimental diagnosis and treatments. And what’s even more disturbing is that too many women don’t follow their doctor’s recommendations.

Join Lauren and Susan as they examine: why she wrote her book, why its so important and how it’s different from other books, why we don’t listen to our guts or do the same due diligence for ourselves that we do for our loved ones, how not “seeming rude” to our doctors outweighs telling them what’s really going on, the most common hurdles women need to overcome to improve their healthcare, how women should speak to their doctors, how to find the most competent doctors and advocate for yourself and tips for women who want to better manage their health and decision-making capabilities.
