Because they have seen their peers unboxing and using them on TikTok. So now it’s trendy to buy Drunk Elephant Bronzing Drops with peptides for $34 or Dior Lip Glow Oil for $40 or even Summer Fridays Midnight Ritual Retinol Renewal Serum for $69! Yes, tweens are putting anti-aging retinols and Vitamin C’s and other acids on their face because it’s trendy and aspirational, but it’s also hurting their skin.

Why are we as middle aged women told to embrace aging and yet teens fear it? How did we get here?

Elena Frankel and Carolyn Barber are the founders of Flyte.70, a beauty brand that focuses on grown-up skin.
